Latisse®

Latisse® has been an increasingly popular option for those with thin, sparse eyelashes, and for good reason. Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment available to make short, inadequate eyelashes longer, fuller and darker.

Latisse® is a growth process  and requires several treatments to achieve desired results. It is the only FDA-approved, clinically proven eyelash conditioner on the market, and it is the only lash growth product of its kind available by prescription. If you are interested in Latisse®, talk to Dr. Hakimian to determine if this is right for you.

Latisse® is a treatment you apply to the base of your upper eyelashes every day. Gradually, you will start to notice your eyelashes becoming longer and thicker. Patients typically see results in as little as four weeks. Full growth results can be achieved within sixteen weeks.

The active ingredient, bimatoprost, is attributed to the remarkable results our patients have achieved with Latisse®. How it stimulates hair growth is not fully understood, but it is believed that it affects the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle by increasing the duration as well as increasing the number of hairs during the growth phase.

Latisse® is a prescriptive option for hypotrichosis to make lashes longer and thicker. The solution initially was derived from topical drops to control the progression of glaucoma as well as reduce intraocular pressure in the eye. It was developed through years of research by Allergan, a pharmaceutical leader with expertise in eye care products. Thicker, lush eyelashes was a side effect of using the drops and eventually, it became approved for cosmetic use. To date, Latisse® is the only FDA-approved treatment clinically proven to grow lashes.

Our eyelash conditioners are not a replacement for mascara, although they may darken your lashes. Eyelash conditioners work by lengthening the duration of the growth phase of the hair. This phase is called the anagen phase. The longer the anagen phase, the longer the hairs will grow to be. In addition, Latisse® helps to increase the number of hairs that grow during this phase, creating a fuller set of eyelashes.

Side effects of eyelash conditioner treatments include itching and/or redness of the eyes. Rare but possible side effects include the darkening of the skin of the eyelids, eye irritation, change in eye color, eye dryness, and redness of the eyelids.
